At the High-level Forum on Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development (2026) held from April 11th to 12th at the China National Convention Center Phase II in Beijing, Seres Automobile President He Liyang shared insights on the industry's evolution. The forum's theme focused on advancing the intelligent, green, integrated, and international development of new energy vehicles.
President He Liyang emphasized that the rapid pace of technological iteration in the automotive industry presents a continuous challenge. A key issue is balancing the adoption of new technologies with meeting the needs of existing customers, while also maintaining quality standards and ensuring a positive user experience. Seres believes that both new and long-term users deserve high-quality service and valuable experiences.
He Liyang disclosed several key metrics: over the past five years, AITO vehicles have been chosen by more than one million users. Notably, charging-powered mileage accounts for over 70% of the total cumulative distance traveled. He highlighted that AITO offers both extended-range and pure electric powertrains, and particularly since the beginning of this year, the proportion of users selecting pure electric models has increased substantially. This shift has contributed to the charging mileage proportion exceeding 70%.
Furthermore, among the total accumulated assisted driving distance for AITO vehicles, active users comprise over 97.5%. This indicates that the vast majority of owners with vehicles equipped with assisted driving capabilities regularly use the feature, representing a significant industry breakthrough.
Two additional critical data points were shared: in the past 30 days, among users utilizing assisted driving or related intelligent services, the frequency of incidents requiring emergency救援 (eCall) per million kilometers was 0.13, a 55.2% decrease compared to the previous year. This metric refers to major collisions necessitating a救援 call or incidents detected by backend monitoring, demonstrating that intelligence and safety features have substantially improved driving safety. Specifically, under assisted driving mode, the incident frequency per million kilometers was 0.074, also down 56.3% year-over-year. The improvement has been especially pronounced since the deployment of the Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.1 system.
"Certainly, this is not solely a result of technology but also relies on the support of the entire vehicle and platform," he stated. "Over the past five years, we have conducted over 9.41 million OTA updates. Therefore, as we move towards an electrified and intelligent future, we are committed to providing users with superior intelligent safety services. Through continuous service optimization and AI-driven enhancements, we will better assist everyone in safe travel."
