TotalEnergies CEO Predicts EU Will Drop Sustainable Aviation Fuel Mandate

Deep News01-21 21:14

TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne stated on Wednesday that the European Union is likely to abandon its mandate for sustainable aviation fuels in the future. This potential move is similar to the bloc's recently announced plan to drop a ban on new internal combustion engine cars, which was set to take effect from 2035.

Pouyanne, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, indicated that while TotalEnergies has the capability to produce sustainable aviation fuel, airlines are unwilling to pay a price that is four times higher than that of conventional jet fuel.
