AKESO's stock price surged 9.74% during intraday trading on Monday, following a significant gap up at the market open.
The sharp rise was driven by the release of updated positive results from the Phase III HARMONi-6 study for the company's PD-1/VEGF bispecific antibody, Ivonescimab, in combination with chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for advanced squamous non-small cell lung cancer. The data, presented at the ASCO Plenary Session, showed the Ivonescimab group achieved a 34% reduction in the risk of death compared to the control group, with a statistically significant overall survival benefit.
The trial results, which were also published in *The Lancet*, mark a significant milestone as the first time in 61 years that Phase III results for a first-in-class novel drug from China have been selected for an ASCO Plenary Session report, indicating their potential to reshape clinical practice.
