China's large-scale agricultural product processing firms surpass 100,000 in 2025

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's rural industries achieved improvements in both quality and efficiency, with new industries and new business models such as rural e-commerce and rural leisure tourism flourishing.

In 2025, the number of large-scale agricultural product processing enterprises nationwide exceeded 100,000, with operating revenue approaching 18 trillion yuan. Revenue from leisure agriculture reached 950 billion yuan, and online retail sales of agricultural products amounted to 783.3 billion yuan.

Officials noted that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, there remains substantial room for growth in rural industry development.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will guide localities to leverage their distinctive resources, make the most of local specialty products, expand the diverse functions of agriculture, tap into the multifaceted value of rural areas, accelerate the building of a modern rural industrial system, and transform agriculture into a major modern industry.
