A-share market alert: Key events ahead as new indices launch and trading week shortens

Next week, A-shares will only have three trading days. Ahead of the National Day holiday, several major events are set to land in a concentrated period, including September PMI data, important briefings from the State Council Information Office, the central bank launching overnight reverse repurchase operations, the release of two new indices, and the simultaneous subscription of two new stocks.

1. The National Bureau of Statistics will soon release important data

On Monday, September 28, the monthly report on industrial economic efficiency for August will be published. On Wednesday, September 30, the latest PMI data will be released.

2. The State Council Information Office will hold important briefings

On Monday, September 28, the State Council Information Office will hold a press conference as part of the "Starting the 15th Five-Year Plan" series of themed briefings, to introduce the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the promotion of high-quality development of central enterprises. On Tuesday, September 29, the State Council Information Office will hold another press conference in the same series, to introduce matters related to accelerating agricultural and rural modernization and solidly advancing comprehensive rural revitalization during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

3. The central bank will conduct overnight reverse repurchase operations

The People's Bank of China will carry out overnight reverse repurchase operations from Monday, September 28 to October 8, using a fixed interest rate and quantity bidding, with a daily operation volume not exceeding 1 trillion yuan.

4. Two new indices will be officially released on September 29

The Shanghai Stock Exchange and China Securities Index Co., Ltd. will officially release the SSE Innovative Drug STAR Market Leading Index and the SSE STAR Market Software Services Index on September 29, 2026, providing the market with more abundant investment targets. The SSE Innovative Drug STAR Market Leading Index selects 40 listed companies in the innovative drug field with high R&D levels and good growth potential from companies listed on the STAR Market and the SSE Main Board as index samples, while increasing the weight of STAR Market samples to reflect the overall performance of listed companies in the innovative drug field on the above boards. The SSE STAR Market Software Services Index selects 40 listed companies in fields such as software development and software services from the STAR Market as index samples to reflect the overall performance of listed companies in the software services industry on the STAR Market.

5. A-shares will have only three trading days next week

According to the arrangements of the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing stock exchanges, the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday will run from September 25 to 27, with normal trading resuming on Monday, September 28. The National Day holiday will run from October 1 to 7, with trading resuming on Thursday, October 8. Next week, A-shares will only have three trading days: September 28, 29, and 30.

6. Two new stocks will open subscription simultaneously on September 28

Lianya Pharmaceutical (301569) — ChiNext issuance price: 7 yuan per share, issuance price-to-earnings ratio: 27.99 times. Lianya Pharmaceutical focuses on the R&D, production, and sales of complex pharmaceutical formulations, especially sustained and controlled-release formulations and ultra-low-dose hormone products. Nanfang Dairy (920196) — Beijing Stock Exchange issuance price: 14.21 yuan per share, issuance price-to-earnings ratio: 11.99 times. Nanfang Dairy's main business is the manufacturing and sales of dairy products and dairy beverages.
