During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China's electronic information manufacturing industry has transitioned from a phase of rapid expansion to one of high-quality development, according to Liu Yulin, director of the Information and Communication Development Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Speaking at a State Council Information Office press conference on August 26, Liu highlighted that the sector's revenue scale has held the top position among all 41 industrial categories in China for 13 consecutive years.
China now leads the world in the production of key consumer electronics, including mobile phones and computers. The country's display panel shipment area accounts for more than 75% of the global total, while integrated circuits have emerged as the highest-value single export commodity in China. These achievements reflect significantly enhanced international competitiveness of domestic enterprises.
This robust performance has played a crucial role in stabilizing industrial economic growth and meeting the growing needs of the people for a better life, Liu emphasized. The sector's development trajectory underscores China's strategic focus on advancing its manufacturing capabilities and technological self-reliance.
