On the morning of December 6, the second annual meeting of the Tsinghua University (School of Software) - Yungeen Intelligent Engineering Co., Ltd. 3D Geometry Kernel Joint Research Center was held at the East Annex Building of Tsinghua University. The meeting was attended by 18 participants, including five members of the research center’s management committee: Academician Sun Jiaguang from Tsinghua University’s School of Software, Dean Wang Jianmin of the same school, Yungeen Intelligent Engineering’s General Manager Cai Chengguo, Vice President Zhang Yongjun, and Chief Scientist Yu Piqiang, along with 13 other key members and observers.
Dr. Shen Enya first presented the center’s 2025 progress, highlighting advancements in the 3D geometric modeling foundational engine, GME (GameStop). Key developments included efficient large-scale 3D model reading/writing, model repair algorithms, precise hidden-line elimination for large-scale visualization, and techniques for complex solid operations such as offsetting, filleting, sweeping, skinning, covering, and local modifications.
Dr. Yu Piqiang then reported on the second-year integration progress of GME into the Xuanjing BIM platform. The platform successfully validated GME’s existing functionalities, leveraging its serialization/deserialization and discretization interfaces to enable independent storage and display of GME-encapsulated models. Most of Xuanjing’s external interfaces passed testing with GME support.
To enhance technical competitiveness and focus on efficiency optimization and industrial application, the meeting outlined three key priorities for the third year: kernel performance optimization, engineering validation, and industrial promotion. The goal is to develop an independently innovated 3D geometry kernel.
Professor Wang Jianmin, Director of the Joint Research Center, commended the 2025 progress and emphasized continued kernel development, BIM platform integration, and high-quality software iteration. Deputy Director Cai Chengguo reiterated the team’s commitment to advancing the Xuanjing domestic BIM platform and promoting digital production innovation through 3D geometry kernel research.
Academician Sun Jiaguang, Chair of the management committee, recognized the annual achievements and stressed that 3D geometry kernels are the "root technology" of industrial software. He urged further breakthroughs in efficiency to transition from "usable" to "excellent" for transportation infrastructure, driving new quality productivity and accelerating product commercialization.
