Hang Seng Indexes Company released a consultation paper on August 10, requesting market input on potential revisions to the compilation methodology of the Hang Seng Tech Index.
Given the continuous expansion of Hong Kong's technology sector, the proposed adjustments aim to broaden the index's coverage of technology themes, enhance the selection process for constituent stocks, and increase the total number of constituents. These changes are designed to ensure the index continues to reflect the evolving technology landscape.
The revisions are expected to be announced by the end of September 2026 and implemented during the index review covering the period up to September 30, 2026. However, this remains subject to the final decision of the Index Advisory Committee, which will consider the public feedback. Any corresponding changes to the index constituents will take effect during the December 2026 index adjustment.
Hang Seng Indexes Company manages and compiles the Hang Seng Index family, which covers stocks listed in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Its indices include the Hang Seng Index, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, and the Hang Seng Tech Index, as well as indices related to the Stock Connect program, the Greater Bay Area, sustainable development, and various industries.
