Mabwell Receives Regulatory Clearance for Clinical Trial of 9MW5211 Injection Targeting Type 1 Diabetes

Stock News07-07

Mabwell (Shanghai) Bioscience Co., Ltd. (ASX: 688062) has announced that it has received a clinical trial approval notice from the National Medical Products Administration.

The approval pertains to the application for a clinical trial of the 9MW5211 injection for the Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) indication.

Previously, clinical trial applications for this same injection for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) indication have been approved by both China's NMPA and the U.S. FDA, while its application for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) indication has also received NMPA approval.

9MW5211 is a highly specific, depleting novel antibody independently developed by the company. It is designed to precisely target the key pathological mechanisms mediated by abnormal immune cells in autoimmune diseases.

The aberrant activation and tissue infiltration of immune cells are central drivers in the development and progression of numerous autoimmune conditions.

The molecule targeted by 9MW5211 is specifically expressed on the surface of pathogenic immune cells, serving as a critical biological marker for their abnormal activation.

By selectively recognizing and clearing these pathogenic cells, 9MW5211 can effectively block the immune cascade, thereby alleviating disease progression and improving clinical symptoms.
