Ahead of the 11th National Security Education Day, the Changbai Mountain Border Management Brigade has adopted a multi-pronged approach to ensure extensive dissemination of national security awareness. By integrating online and offline methods and focusing on both key demographics and the general public, the initiative precisely targets local businesses and tourists visiting the scenic area to deepen the impact of national security promotion.
For offline campaigns, officers were deployed to densely populated locations within their jurisdiction, including hotels, shops, and gas stations. Activities involved displaying promotional banners, setting up information boards, distributing educational materials, and providing on-site consultations to familiarize the public with laws such as the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China and the Counter-Espionage Law of the People's Republic of China. Emphasis was placed on explaining security domains closely related to border residents' lives, including political security, territorial security, cybersecurity, and ecological security.
Using real cases from border regions, law enforcement personnel explained in accessible language the threats posed to national security by illegal border crossings, unauthorized surveying, and cross-border smuggling. They detailed citizens' legal obligations to safeguard national security and encouraged active public participation in protective efforts.
Given the high concentration of tourists in the Changbai Mountain scenic area, officers extended their outreach to popular spots, handing out pamphlets and explaining border control policies and national security knowledge. Visitors were reminded to comply with border management regulations during their travels, report suspicious individuals or activities promptly, and note the provided hotline for alerts—ensuring that awareness of national security and a sense of border protection remain with tourists after their visit.
Online efforts proceeded simultaneously across multiple platforms. Leveraging WeChat official accounts and community social media groups, the brigade circulated national security knowledge, promotional posters, and cautionary videos. These materials elucidated relevant laws and promoted safety tips, such as guarding against telecom fraud and online espionage, overcoming temporal and spatial constraints to make such information accessible anytime, anywhere, thereby broadening the campaign's reach and influence.
The series of activities resulted in the distribution of over 1,200 copies of promotional materials, more than 20 banners, and 15 information boards. Approximately 300 public inquiries were addressed, reaching an audience of over 800 residents and tourists. These efforts effectively heightened national security awareness, legal literacy, and a sense of responsibility for border protection among the local population and visitors, fostering a strong atmosphere where "everyone knows, pays attention to, and safeguards national security."
