MW Beyond Meat expands European distribution

Plant-based meat alternative company Beyond Meat Inc. $(BYND)$ said Monday that it has expanded distribution in Europe. Sainsbury's in the U.K has doubled its distribution of Beyond Burgers nationwide, and Waitrose has launched both Beyond Burger and Beyond Sausage. Beyond Meat is coming to 1,000 new retail locations across Germany in April and May. Beyond Mince is expanding in Switzerland, and has been made available in The Netherlands. Beyond Meat launched a co-manufacturing facility in June 2020 and has acquired its first manufacturing facility. Plant-based food sales soared in 2020, with Starbucks Corp. $(SBUX)$ experiencing a shortage of oat milk shortly after the launch of its oat milk-based drinks on March 2 . Beyond Meat stock slipped 1.2% in early Monday trading, but is up 3% for the year to date. The S&P 500 index is up 9.8% for 2021 so far.
