Singapore Business Review2022-06-16

A total of 1,705,200 passengers were carried in May 2022.

With air travel recovery still ongoing in May 2022, the Singapore Airlines Group posted 1,705,200 passengers last month, up by 1,325% from 119,600 passengers carried in the same month in 2021.

On a monthly basis, the number of passengers served by Singapore Airlines and Scoot increased by 17.4%.

For group passenger capacity, it reached 61% of pre-Covid-191 levels in May 2022, which is four percentage points higher than the month before.

The SIA Group passenger load factor (PLF) for the month registered was at 78.2%, the highest since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile, cargo operations registered a cargo load factor of 65.4% in May 2022 or 22.3 percentage points lower than in May 2021.

SIA Group’s cargo loads went down by 3% because cargo demand was impacted by strict pandemic restrictions in China.

In May, SIA revived air travel to Medan whilst Scoot returned services to Nanjing, China.

As of the end of May 2022, SIA Group’s passenger network covered 97 destinations including Singapore, of which, SIA served 72 destinations and Scoot served 46 destinations.
