17:03 ET - Qualcomm hopes current tensions between China and the US around Taiwan will ease, Chief Financial Officer Akash Palkhiwala says. "I'm hoping that as the two countries talk, we'll be able to de-escalate the tensions there because obviously the chip industry is a very global industry," adding that the chip maker--like many in the industry--sources from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, the world's largest contract chip manufacturer. China's military today responded to the arrival of a delegation of US lawmakers in Taiwan by announcing a resumption of military drills after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan this month.
