China's Reopening Likely a Long-Term Positive for Singapore Equities -- Market Talk

Dow Jones2023-01-05

0251 GMT - China's reopening is likely a long-term positive for Singapore equities, says RHB Research analyst Shekhar Jaiswal in a research report, noting China accounted for 18% of the city-state's non-oil domestic exports and 19% of its tourist arrivals before the pandemic. Investment themes for early 2023 include selective exposure to China's reopening; buying banking stocks as a proxy to high rates and defensive earnings growth characteristics; buying shares of companies with resilient and defensive earnings and dividends; and buying industrial REITs, the analyst says. RHB's stock picks include DBS, OCBC, City Developments, Sheng Siong, Singapore Technologies Engineering, Wilmar International, CDL Hospitality, ComfortDelGro, Raffles Medical, Singapore Telecommunications, Thai Beverage, AIMS APAC REIT, CapitaLand Ascendas REIT and ESR-LOGOS REIT.
