0703 ET - Canmaker Ball Corp., whose executives have previously criticized their customers -- big makers of beer, soda, energy drinks and other beverages -- for raising prices too much, say that Americans are balking at sticker prices. In the company's segment that sells aluminum beverage cans in the US, Canada and Mexico, sales volume slipped 7.1% in 4Q and was flat for the year. The company says higher retail prices are weighing on demand, particularly in the US. Still, Ball says canned drinks are performing better than drinks packaged in other materials, like glass and plastic, even "in the current retail pricing environment." (will.feuer@wsj.com; @WillFOIA)
