First Republic Bank, First Citizens, Novartis, Carnival, and More: U.S. Stocks to Watch

Stock futures were rising Monday as investors maintained their focus on turmoil in the banking industry.

These stocks were poised to make moves Monday:

U.S. regional banks: First Republic Bank (FRC) led a rebound in US regional bank stocks in premarket trading. First Republic Bank surged 25%; Silvergate Capital (SI) jumped 16%; PacWest Bancorp (PACW) rose 7.4%; Western Alliance Bancorp (WAL) rose 5%.

First Citizens Bancshares (FCNCA) was rising 6.4% in premarket trading after agreeing to acquire large parts of Silicon Valley Bank two weeks after its collapse triggered a wave of market turmoil. First Citizens will be buying all of Silicon Valley Bank's deposits, loans and branches, which will open on Monday under the new ownership, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

American depositary receipts of Novartis (NVS) rose 6% after the Swiss pharmaceutical company reported positive top-line results from a trial of breast-cancer drug Kisqali. Novartis said Kisqali plus endocrine therapy "significantly reduced the risk of disease recurrence" compared with standard endocrine therapy alone.

BioNTech (BNTX), the German biotechnology company, and Carnival (CCL), the cruise ship operator, are scheduled to report quarterly earnings before the stock market opens Monday. Wall Street expects Carnival Corporation to post a quarterly loss at $0.61 per share on revenue of $4.33 billion; Analysts are expecting BioNTech SE to have earned 8.91 per share on revenue of $4.39 billion for the latest quarter.

Reports later in the week are expected from Micron Technology (MU), Lululemon Athletica (LULU), Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), Paychex (PAYX), EVgo (EVGO) and BlackBerry (BB).

Iovance Biotherapeutics (IOVA), the cancer-therapy developer, gained 11.4% in premarket trading after saying Friday it completed a rolling biologics license application submission to the Food and Drug Administration for lifileucel, a melanoma therapy.

Berkshire Grey, Inc. (BGRY) entered into definitive merger agreement with SoftBank Group for a go-private transaction. Berkshire Grey shares jumped 19.3% in premarket trading.

Motorsport Games Inc. (MSGM) posted downbeat results for its fourth quarter on Friday. Motorsport Games shares dropped 10.5% in premarket trading.

Analysts expect PVH Corp. (PVH) to post quarterly earnings at $1.67 per share on revenue of $2.36 million after the closing bell. PVH shares rose 0.7% to $73.27 in after-hours trading Friday.
