Sibanye-Stillwater Could See Improved Cash Flow From Closing Gold Mine Shaft -- Market Talk

Dow Jones2023-09-14

1030 GMT - Sibanye-Stillwater's possible restructure of its Kloof gold mine operations could positively impact cash flow, RBC Capital Markets analyst Marina Calero writes in a research note. The Johannesburg-listed metals miner is to enter consultation with organized labour and other affected stakeholders regarding the possible restructuring of its Kloof 4 shaft due to continuing losses and operational constraints. "Although a potential closure of Kloof 4 would translate into downgrades to gold production, it will likely have a positive free cash-flow impact on the group given the high costs," Calero says. A possible closure won't hurt the full-year production guidance as the updated outlook already left out any production from Kloof, she says. RBC rates the stock outperform, with a $9-price target.
