AUD/USD Likely Has Reached Interim Top, Charts Show -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-04

0537 GMT - AUD/USD has likely reached an interim top, based on technical charts, says Quek Ser Leang, markets strategist of UOB's Global Economics & Markets Research. The currency pair's Dec. 28 high of 0.6871 hasn't been confirmed by the daily moving average convergence divergence indicator, which suggests a bearish divergence, the strategist says in a research note. Also, AUD/USD has pulled back sharply from that high amid the bearish divergence, and the currency pair has room to break below rising trendline support, which is now at 0.6685, the strategist adds. AUD/USD is up 0.2% at 0.6741. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
