Peacock Streaming Data From NFL Playoff Game Shows Vast Audience Demand -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-16

0746 ET - Viewership data from streaming service Peacock's livestream of one of the National Football League's playoff games this weekend shows that the mix-shift to streaming and the broader opportunity around connected TV is accelerating with TV ad budgets still catching to audiences, say analysts at Citi in a research note. The game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins was the most streamed U.S. event ever, drawing 23 million viewers, according to NBCUniversal, citing Nielsen data. "Streaming is already the top viewership channel for video, but with the success of Amazon's [Thursday Night Football] this past season and record audiences logging-in to watch the Chiefs/Dolphins game on Peacock, we believe there's a clear mix-shift in demand whereby users are willing to watch content anywhere, anytime, and on any device," say the analysts.
