Southeast Asia Plantation Sector Earnings May Drop in 4Q -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02-07

0159 GMT - Southeast Asia's plantation sector may post sequential and on-year drops in 4Q earnings, RHB IB analysts Hoe Lee Leng and Syahril Hanafiah say in a note. They think lower production output after the end of the peak season and declining crude palm-oil prices will both weigh. They stay neutral on the plantation sector, continuing to expect that seasonally reduced output and the impact from the El Nino weather phenomenon could lead to higher CPO prices in 1H. RHB prefers upstream players, naming TA Ann Holdings, Sarawak Oil Palms, Bumitama Agri, Golden Agri-Resources and London Sumatra Indonesia as its top picks. (yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
