Singapore Shares Fall 0.4%, Tracking Regional Losses -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02-26

0927 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index fell 0.4% to close at 3171.12, tracking losses across most regional equity markets. Investor focus for this week is likely to shift to economic data from earnings, said Ipek Ozkardeskaya, senior analyst at Swissquote Bank, in an email. At this stage, the U.S. economy has been resilient and the latest uptick in CPI data has helped investors understand that the Fed is unlikely to lower rates any time before summer, the analyst adds. Among worst performers on the benchmark index, UOL Group dropped 3.6%, Seatrium lost 2.15% and Genting Singapore was down 1.6%. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
