Musk said the production design is complete and an official unveiling will occur before the end of the year. Interestingly, the new Roadster is considered a collaboration between Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX (SPACE). Tesla (TSLA) originally had announced the four-seat Roadster at the end of 2017, with a targeted launch date in 2020. The highly-anticipated launch was pushed back due to pandemic complications and the industry-wide supply chain crunch. \"There will never be another car like this, if you could even call it a car,\" stated Musk on X. He also said he thinks the Roadster has a shot at being the most mind-blowing product demo of all time. In another eye-opener, Musk claimed the 0-to-60 mile per hour acceleration time will be less than one second. On Tesla's (TSLA) website, the Roadster is described as having a top speed of over 250 miles per hour and a driving range of 620 miles. The Roadster could compete for luxury gas-powered and EV buyers with models from Porsche AG (OTCPK:DRPRY), Maserati (STLA), Ferrari (RACE), Lamborghini (OTCPK:POAHY) (OTCPK:VWAGY). BYD Company's (OTCPK:BYDDF) Yangwang U9 is also in the mix, and certain Polestar Automotive (PSNY) and Lucid Group (LCID) performance vehicles. What to watch: While Tesla (TSLA) has a history of launching vehicles later than first promised by Elon Musk, shares have typically rallied in the months ahead of a launch event. However, some analysts have stated that the importance of launching the +$200K (estimated) Roadster is far below that of the timing of when Tesla (TSLA) will officially introduce a mass-market EV priced in the $30K range. Shares of Tesla (TSLA) rose 1.60% in morning trading on Wednesday to $202.59 vs. the 52-week range of $152.37 to $299.29.
