Singapore Shares Rise 0.2%; Focus on China's NPC Meeting -- Market Talk

0112 GMT - Singapore's benchmark FTSE Straits Times Index edges 0.2% higher to 3127.67 in early trade, with investors' focus on China's National People's Congress meeting. The government's work report will likely be delivered at the beginning of the meeting, setting key economic targets and determining policy tone for the year, ING economists say in a note. Among the best performers on the benchmark index, Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust rises 2.0%, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding adds 1.1%, and Seatrium is up 1.1%. Meanwhile, DFI Retail Group falls 0.5%, SATS Ltd. sheds 0.4% and Wilmar International is down 0.3%. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
