The move up in market volatility has been fueled by the market selloff which has sent the tech focused Nasdaq Composite lower by 2%. At the same time the S&P 500 and the blue-chip Dow Jones are also lower on the day by 1.3% and 1.2% respectively. Traders and investors are also set to watch the benchmark S&P 500 have its worst trading day since February 13th when the index ended lower by 1.4%. Further throwing a wrench into the volatility mix has been the large price swings seen by Bitcoin which earlier in the session tagged a new all-time trading high which subsequently was met by a wall of sellers that forced the cryptocurrency down 10%.
