Dow Jones03-06

0935 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index closed 0.9% higher at 3136.14, maintaining earlier gains from a possible technical recovery after three straight sessions of losses. Market participants are likely monitoring U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's congressional testimony later in the day to see if he will deviate from the central bank's recent message of 'no rush to cut rates', Ken Cheung, chief Asian FX strategist at Mizuho Bank, said in an email. Advancers included Singapore Airlines, which rose 2.4%; Seatrium, which added 2.25%; and Genting Singapore, which was up 2.2%. Meanwhile, UOL Group was down 1.25%. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
