Chinese EV giant BYD to launch next-generation hybrid system in May, report says

BEIJING, March 27 (Reuters) - Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD will launch its next-generation plug-in hybrid system in May, China Business Network reported on Wednesday.

The fifth-generation DMI technology would enable fuel consumption of 2.9 litres per 100 kilometres and combined ranges of up to 2,000 kilometres, BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu told an investors' meeting on Wednesday, according to the report.
