McDonald's Looks to Spur Breakfast Growth With Krispy Kreme Deal -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-27

1048 GMT - McDonald's is looking to reinvigorate growth in its breakfast business with its newly announced Krispy Kreme deal, analysts at investment bank Evercore say in a research note. They estimate that McDonald's breakfast traffic is down 10% from 2019, and that industry-wide fast-food traffic has stagnated in recent months. "We do see the partnership as a way to recapture some of Covid's lapsed breakfast users with a differentiated product and limited incremental labor costs," the analysts say. Shares of McDonald's didn't trade actively Wednesday morning. (Will.Feuer@wsj.com; @WillFOIA)
