However, worries over the suppression of cloud gaming are \"misplaced,\" Bank of America said. \"In our view, the complaint mischaracterizes Apple’s intentions towards the video gaming market,\" analysts led by Omar Dessouky wrote in an investor note. \"For example, we doubt that preventing a cloud gaming ecosystem from forming on iOS has improved the relative value proposition of 'high performance local compute' to gamers specifically. We never thought of iPhone as an ideal platform for high-fidelity, AAA gaming primarily for technological reasons, but also because of gamer preferences.\"  Shares rose 0.4% in premarket trading on Wednesday. The analysts also noted mobile chips are \"unlikely\" to ever be able to maximize the performance for AAA games, as PCs and consoles have greater surface areas and external cooling systems that are not available on smartphones and tablets. They also said Apple's announcement in January that it will start to allow cloud streaming apps to be contained in a single app was not a \"preemptive response\" to the DOJ lawsuit and it's unlikely that Apple wants to create the type of gaming technology and publishing capabilities that Microsoft (MSFT) and Sony (SONY) have on consoles.
