Microsoft's $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard, the biggest videogaming deal in history, is a good example of the expertise provided by investment bank Allen & Co., says managing director Nancy Peretsman.

The merger -- Peretsman and Allen advised Activision -- was completed in October after nearly two years of delays and fights with global regulators. She described it as a journey that required a long and trusted relationship between the bankers and their client.

"Allen & Co. is distinctively adept at establishing a great outcome for clients, and the message is to be patient for the right answer," she says.

Peretsman, 69, says her career has been "deeply gratifying" and that she would do it all over again. Her advice for the next generation of women considering working in finance: "If this is an area that interests you, don't be afraid. Go for it."
