China's Travel Recovery Has Room to Run -- Market Talk

0301 GMT - China is likely to see more upside in the travel spend recovery among domestic tourists, while outbound travel momentum continues to improve, according to Citi analysts in a research note. The analysts note that the just-concluded Qingming holiday shows that per-capita spend by Chinese tourists has exceeded prepandemic levels by 1.1% for the first time since Covid for major holiday period. The analysts believe that consumer demand for leisure and travel will continue to outperform, noting an upcoming tailwind in the Labor Day Holiday in early May. The analysts pick H World and Samsonite International as their top sector picks. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
