Singapore Shares Slip 0.1% Amid Cautious Mood -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-08

0938 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index closed 0.1% lower at 3215.99, amid some caution among investors. IG market analyst Yeap Jun Rong reckons investors will be looking ahead to U.S. consumer price index data due this week. The data will be watched for signs about the economy's strength and the implications for Fed policy. Robust jobs figures last week shifted views on the timing of Fed cuts. Among the best performers, Seatrium rose 1.2%, Genting Singapore added 1.7% and Jardine Cycle & Carriage was up 0.9%. Meanwhile, Jardine Matheson fell 1.7%, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding dropped 1.6% and Hongkong Land was 1.0% lower. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
