Jassy was discussing the European Union's decision to block Amazon's (AMZN) purchase of iRobot (NASDAQ:IRBT) and reports that the Federal Trade Commission was also set to block the deal. The Amazon CEO was also addressing a question about the FTC looking into Amazon's partnership with Anthropic and Microsoft's (MSFT) relationship with OpenAI.  \"There are some acquisitions happening but we’re, you know, we’re consuming a lot of time and taxpayers money with what we’re doing right now, and I think a lot of it is outside the bounds of the law right now,\" Jassy said in an interview with CNBC earlier on Thursday. \"I think we got to be careful right now in Western countries in the way that we’re handling regulation,\" Jassy explained. Jassy said that Amazon’s (AMZN) withdrawal from iRobot’s (IRBT) $1.4B deal to purchase the Roomba maker is a “really sad story” of how regulation killed an American company that built an almost billion-dollar company.
