Amazon Not Planning To Spin Off Prime Video Or Buy Paramount -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-11

0948 ET - Amazon Prime Video "will be a good economic business on its own," Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy says in a CNBC live interview. The remarks echo his lengthy letter to shareholders published earlier. He tells CNBC, however, that he isn't planning to spin off the streaming business "because it's so tightly integrated into our Prime offering." Jassy says live sports events have proved to be a good fit for the service. He also responds negatively to a question about whether he would want to buy Paramount. "I think we are pretty comfortable with the offering we have right now and we are continuing to produce...really great exclusive content." Amazon shares are flat.(paulo.trevisani@wsj.com; @ptrevisani)
