Norwegian Cruise Line's Private-Island Plan Is a Ray of Sunshine -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-10

1435 ET - Norwegian Cruise Line's recently announced investment in its private island is a welcome shift in strategy, according to Stifel analysts. Norwegian says it will invest $150 million to build a multi-ship pier at Great Stirrup Cay, its private island in the Bahamas. That's welcome news to the analysts, who say in a research note that previous management seemed wary of investing in the island and saw the concept as a fad. The analysts point to the strong demand for Royal Caribbean's CocoCay private island as evidence the investment is worthwhile. It's also expected to improve Caribbean yields. Shares in Norwegian drop 1.1% to $19.17. (ben.glickman@wsj.com; @benglickman)
