BYD Achieves Record Quarterly Sales in Australia, Helped by Cash Back Offer -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-12

0144 GMT - BYD Co. achieves record quarterly sales in Australia in 1Q, thanks to the company's A$2,023 cash back incentive for its Atto 3 electric SUV model, Citi analysts write in a note. The Chinese EV giant's market share in Australian EV market reached 16% in 1Q, with the sale of 4,500 units, they note. In March, the company sold 1,600 cars thanks to the final month of the cash back offer, the analysts say, citing the on-the-ground research by their Australian analyst Jack Dunn. The Atto 3 remains BYD's most popular model in the country, Citi adds. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
