CBS television on Monday said it would develop a new daytime drama, "The Gates," through a joint venture between CBS Studios and the NAACP.

"The Gates" will follow the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community, the network said.

The series will be produced in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble, CBS said. Michele Val Jean will serve as writer and showrunner.

The new show is expected to debut in January, CBS said, adding specific times and launch dates, as well as other series details, will be disclosed in the future.
