Shares were fractionally higher in mid-afternoon trading. \"The (European) Commission has received information suggesting that Broadcom is changing the conditions of VMware's software licensing and support,\" a spokesperson for the EC told Reuters.  Belgian business user association Beltug and a similar organization in France known as Cigref were among several groups that complained to the EU about VMware, the news outlet reported.  The EC said it had sent information requests to Broadcom pertaining to the matter. Broadcom did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha. However, the company did put out a blog post on Monday which seemed to hint at the matter. Chief Executive Hock Tan said the company has \"dramatically reduced the price of [VMware Cloud Foundation] to promote customer adoption.\" Tan also laid out several strategy changes, including increased investment, offering consistent customer experiences and the transition to a subscription model. \"This refreshed strategy to increase competition with the public cloud and promote customer adoption will result in changes for our customers and partners, and we have moved to implement them,\" Tan wrote in the post. \"These changes were designed to lead to an integrated VCF solution that will bring broader long-term benefits to our valued customers both in their own data centers and in the cloud with increased portability to move workloads among on-premise data centers and supported cloud providers. Those benefits will accrue, whether the customer is a global enterprise seeking to leverage its digital capabilities, or a government looking to utilize VMware innovation to advance regional digital sovereignty.\" Broadcom closed on its deal to acquire VMware in November 2023.
