Ballard Power Systems said Tuesday that it received orders for 70 of its hydrogen fuel cell engines from a U.K.-based bus manufacturer deploying hydrogen-powered buses in the U.K. and Europe.

The Canadian fuel cell products manufacturer said Tuesday the multiple purchase orders were for its FCmove-HD hydrogen fuel cell engines from Wrightbus, an existing customer.

Ballard expects to deliver the fuel cell engines some time in 2024, with the buses planned to enter into service in Germany and the U.K. in 2025.

No financial details of the orders were disclosed.
