Singapore Shares Fall 1.2%, Tracking Regional Losses

Dow Jones04-16

Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index fell 1.2% to close at 3144.76, tracking losses in most regional equity markets.

Simmering geopolitical tensions and a potential delay in the Fed's rate cuts are among recent catalysts for investors to de-risk, IG market strategist Yeap Jun Rong said in an email.

Among worst performers on the benchmark index, DFI Retail Group fell 4.05%, CapitaLand Investment lost 3.8% and Jardine Matheson Holdings shed 3.3%. Meanwhile, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding rose 1.7%.
