Reuters04-19

April 19 (Reuters) - Australia's Whitehaven Coal

posted a 2.3% rise in its third-quarter production on Friday, underpinned by strong performance at its Maules Creek and Gunnedah open cut mines.

The country's top independent coal miner said its managed run-of-mine $(ROM)$ coal production for the three months ended March 31 was 4.4 million tonnes (Mt), compared with 4.3 Mt a year earlier.

The coal miner also indicated that a near 20% stake sell-down process at its recently bought Blackwater mine from BHP Group is underway.
