Top Companies for Financial Strength -- Journal Report

Apple scored highest for financial strength among the latest Management Top 250 companies, followed by Microsoft and Alphabet.

The Management Top 250 ranking, compiled by researchers at the Drucker Institute, part of Claremont Graduate University, compares companies using the late management guru Peter Drucker's principles to identify the most effectively managed businesses. The five main components of the ranking are customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development, innovation, social responsibility and financial strength.

Apple ranks second overall, with Microsoft first and Alphabet fourth. Procter & Gamble, fourth for financial strength, also made the to 10 overall, at No. 7. P&G and Apple are among the Management Top 250 companies with the biggest gains from a year earlier in scores for financial strength.

Apple also made the top 10 for innovation and is one of seven All-Stars in the latest Management Top 250 ranking -- companies whose scores in all five components were in the top 20% for the nearly 800 companies that were analyzed for the ranking. Microsoft made the top 10 among the Management Top 250 for employee engagement and development, innovation and social responsibility.

Amazon, ninth for financial strength, has the top score for innovation, and Walmart, sixth for financial strength, also made the top 10 for innovation.
