Ashford Hospitality Trust said its chief executive plans to step down this summer and will be succeeded by the current senior vice president of corporate finance and strategy.

The real estate investment trust said Thursday that J. Robison Hays III has provided notice of his intention to voluntarily resign on June 30.

The board has appointed Stephen Zsigray to take over the role upon Hays's departure.

Zsigray has served as senior vice president of corporate finance and strategy since May 2020. He joined the REIT in 2014 as a trader and portfolio manager in Ashford's investment management division and subsequently served as the president and chief operating officer of OpenKey, a hospitality technology company affiliated with Ashford.
