April 18 (Reuters) - Tesla's attempt to seek a shareholder re-vote on CEO Elon Musk's record-breaking pay that was voided by a Delaware judge in January has once again put the spotlight on CEO compensation in corporate America.

Unlike the conventional packages, Musk's $56 billion pay did not include a salary or cash bonus. Instead, it sets rewards based on Tesla's market value rising to as much as $650 billion over the next 10 years from 2018.

Despite a recent dip in Tesla's stock shrinking the pay value to about $40 billion, the package remains much bigger than CEOs of other major U.S. companies.
