1105 GMT - When it publishes 1Q results in May, BP will likely outline the possible cost savings arising from the simplification of its executive team and organizational structure, RBC Capital Markets analyst Biraj Borkhataria says in a research note. The changes appear consistent with comments from BP's chief executive back in February, the analyst says. They come as oil companies contend with complex structures, the uncertainty caused by the energy transition and a wave of low-carbon-related deals. "In that vein, we expect BP to outline the potential cost savings opportunity from a leaner, simpler organisation at the upcoming results. Similar commentary from peer Shell last year was taken well by investors, and we believe this could too," the analyst says. (pierre.bertrand@wsj.com)
