L'Oreal's Reassuring Results Could Drive Consensus Upgrades -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-19

1104 GMT - Consensus estimates for L'Oreal's full-year results could move up slightly, after the company posted reassuring growth for the first quarter, Stifel analyst Rogerio Fujimori writes in a research note. The French cosmetics company posted EUR11.24 billion in sales for the first quarter, up 8.3% in reported terms compared with the prior-year period, with double-digit growth in all regions except for North Asia. Investors should react positively to the first-quarter print amid recent soft trends in the U.S. and weak cosmetics retail sales in China for the beauty sector, the analyst says. Shares are up 4% at EUR440.35. (andrea.figueras@wsj.com)
