Dow Jones04-19

0833 ET - On the heels of securing more than $6 billion in funds under the CHIPS Act for projects in New York and Idaho, Micron Technology says it's seeking Commerce Department funding to help it modernize the production of long-lifecycle DRAM products at its chipmaking plant in Manassas, Va. Micron, which aims to address future demand from defense, aerospace, automotive and industrial customers, says it needs the federal grants, along with federal investment tax credits and Virginia state incentives, for the project to proceed. Micron has struck a preliminary deal to receive $6.1 billion in CHIPS Act funds for a planned new memory chip plant in upstate New York and expand its facilities in Boise, Idaho.
