ABB Raised Guidance Should Drive Consensus Upgrade -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-18

0628 GMT - ABB's uplifted margin guidance should drive a consensus upgrade, JP Morgan analysts say in a research note. The Swiss technology company raised its operational Ebita margin from a base of 16.9% to 18% compared with standing consensus at 17.2% and JPM estimated 17.4% following its first quarter results, the analysts say. Some operating leverage from slightly higher sales, positive pricing and efficiency measures contributed to the margin strength which in turn should lead to an around 5% consensus upgrade, the JPM analysts say. The order beat of 3% ahead of consensus, the margin guidance raise and the implied consensus upgrade should be enough to see the stock up today, JPM says. (nina.kienle@wsj.com)
