Lloyds Banking's Net Interest Income Missed Expectations -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-24

0711 GMT - Lloyds Banking Group's net interest income was below consensus views on higher than expected non-banking income, RBC says after the British lender reported first-quarter results. "The market will likely focus today on the trajectory of non-banking [net interest income]," analyst Benjamin Toms writes in a note. He points to a 2% pretax profit beat which was driven by impairments and partly offset by higher costs and lower net interest income than estimated by analysts. Shares in London trade 2.1% lower at 50.26 pence shortly after market open while the FTSE 100 rises 0.4%. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
