Australia's Fortescue third-quarter iron ore shipments fall 6%

Reuters04-24

April 24 (Reuters) - Fortescue on Wednesday logged a 6% decline in third-quarter iron ore shipments, hurt by an impact of an ore car derailment and weather disruptions.

The world's fourth-largest iron ore miner said it shipped 43.3 million tonnes (mt) of the steel-making commodity in the three months ended March 31, compared with 46.3 million tonnes a year earlier.

That compared with a Visible Alpha estimate of 45.4 mt according to Morgan Stanley.
