Polaris Powers Down Some Vehicle Production on Downward Trends, Unfavorable Weather -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-24

9:24 ET -- Polaris is tweaking its production plans in response to current trends and recreation and utility as well as the weak snow season. The Medina, Minn.-based powersports-vehicle maker reduced RZR side-by-side production as recreation retail has been down. Chief Executive Mike Speetzen adds on an investor call that the company doesn't see a near-term improvement given elevated interest rates weighing on consumer purchases and the likelihood that rates stay higher for longer. Another product whose production has decreased includes Slingshots, which Speetzen says has a higher mix of consumers who finance their vehicles. (denny.jacob@wsj.com; @pennedbyden)
